How to cope with adversity

We can all agree that life is full of ups and downs. Sometimes, there is not much we can do to control or prevent adversity. For that reason, I want to share some tips on how we can deal with them. Here are some specific ways to anticipate them and overcome when we face difficulties.

 

  • Understand that adversity is only temporary (better times are yet to come). In other words, nothing lasts forever. Focus as much as possible on solutions rather than the negative aspects of difficulties.
  • Appreciate all that is good in your life. Even when something bad happens, you still have many positive things to take advantage of: your health, family, children, freedom, and so on.
  • Recognize that in your heart you have what it takes to persevere. You can face and overcome adversity. You have done it before, you will do it again.
  • Understand that when one door closes, another almost always will open. Look for hidden opportunities when faced with adversity. Something positive is almost always to come.

With each difficulty, we become stronger and we can learn to know each other better.

Commit to finding the positive side and the opportunity for personal transformation in every problematic situation.
